I am looking into Caringpages and CaringBridge for my mother's medical journey. I feel these two sites will continue without ever having used them. The reason I say this is because of the privacy issues. As Facebook continues to change security settings when they make updates, a person's very private and personal journey could end up becoming available to people that shouldn't be included.

I am encouraged by the comments left earlier that one of these sites will be a great way to communicate with family and friends in a secure, appropriate way

Dan --

You're far from being alone, in multiple ways. Not that that makes what you're going through any less difficult, but it does seem to help us to know that other people are going through seasons that are as difficult or even more so than ours. While these times are hard, what I see over and over in the lives of others, as well as my own, is that these are the times that we get to see God working. My prayer for you is that He will show Himself to you in very visible ways as you walk through this time.

Jim, thank you so much for this post. I have been feeling downtrodden by my current circumstances and I just needed to hear that I'm not the only one. We just buried my grandpa, and the very next day my grandma broke her hip and is still in the hospital. Work is rough on top of that as well as my graduate work. My family is definitely being tried at the moment, as well as my faith. I appreciate your words and it has definitely helped.

Jim,

A friend of mine and I were just talking the other day about the word should... and I remembered the funny and poignant "Don't You Should On Me" video I posted to my blog. I love you in your post where you write do say "I love you." I know for myself when I connect to the fact that I love the person I am sharing with, I remember that they are lovable and acceptable just right where they are. Then it is easier for me to say, "are you open to feedback" and "my suggestion would be" or "what I did when I way in a similar situation is..." And if they say, "No, I am not open to feedback." - when I am connected to them from a loving space I can honor that for the time they just want me to listen and this may the most loving thing anyone has done for them in good long while.

Thank you for you post. It still as important today as it was when you wrote it.
